James Halliday's '2019 Best Value Winery of the Year'
Winemaker's Notes
The beautiful pale green tinged colour is testament to the excellent season and tank maturation. Primary fruit aromas of pear (Pinot Gris) and spring blossom (Riesling) are supported by musk and orange peel nuances. Fruit flavours are true to the promised bouquet with a supple weight driven by a thread of bright natural acid. Long in fresh flavour, this wine is an excellent foil for modern food styles.
What's On The Bottle
Salvador Dali believed that to make great wine "one needs a madman to grow the vine, a wise man to watch over it, a lucid poet to make the wine and a lover to drink it."
Claiming lucid poet status seems a trifle affected, but it is true that this lively cellar blend of Riesling and Pinot Gris is the end result of much thought - lucid or otherwise.
My friend, artist Jacquelyn Stephens, has created a series of paintings inspired by wine. The beautiful shapes and colours are familiar to our cellar and winemaking. Please enjoy.
